Self-care for a mama is a real need. How else will you be able to gain some clarity and gather up some patience for the day to come? A day that will most likely be filled with the constant needs of your little mini-me’s, more than 3 uncontrollable accidents in an hour, and endless amounts of mom, mom, MOM..
1 of my 5 little guys’ woke up at night just to raid my kitchen and take out all the lunch meat, milk, fruit, and cheese amongst other groceries that I had in my refrigerator. He is only 2 but what the heck, right? And how did I not hear this happening.. Have your kids ever done something like this to you?
Why do you need to have a self-care routine? Think of it as an investment in yourself. It’s like when you buy a new car, that car is going to need maintenance to keep it running well so it doesn’t break down over the years. Self-care is like “maintenance” for yourself. I’ve broken down before and it wasn’t pretty.
If we don’t take care of ourselves we are useless to our families and friends. If we don't take care of ourselves we are useless to our families and friends. Click To Tweet
If we invest in ourselves by creating self-care routines that meet our needs we are inviting improvement in our lives. Start with the visions you have for your future, prioritize your goals and then merge them into your daily routine. Think about what you need to really recharge your spirit, what will help you gain clarity for the day? What helps keep you grounded?
I have little to no patience which is crazy because I have 5 kids. It’s something that God has had to grow on me. When I’m not taking the time to make sure I’m taking care of “me” I always find that I have less patience and I’m totally losing my mind, feeling doubtful about my role as a mother and wife, than on the days that I am taking time to read Gods good word and getting my alone time.
Think about your routine and how it can work for you at its full potential.
3 Things To Add To Your Mama Self-Care Routine
1. GET YOUR TEA ON, GIRL!
I really enjoy drinking tea and I try to drink more tea during the day than coffee. I get a little crazy on the coffee beans! I had the opportunity to try some great tasting tea from Adagio Teas. I love drinking a nice hot cup of tea mainly because of the amazing health benefits that most teas deliver.
I see it as a way of being mindful and intentional about taking steps for my health and incorporating something I really enjoy into my daily self-care routine.
Here are 3 teas I got to try in return for my review in this post. I’m a tea lover so I was super stoked when the company offered me a voucher to shop around on their site. I ended up making an account and adding an absurd amount of products I want to try to my wishlist!
I ordered the Blueberry White Tea for myself and the other two fun ones for my boys. They enjoy tea but just not when it’s hot, instead, I brewed cold ice tea for them. The fun names and great taste were fun to drink and they pretend they were dinos and astronauts.
My tea is perfect! It’s calming, fresh, and has just the right amount of sweetness to it. It adds a refreshing cup of goodness to my day paired with my reading (or just throughout my day). It’s just so relaxing for me!

When you go to their checkout they let you choose a sample tea too! I chose Vanilla Oolong Tea.
2. GODS GOOD WORDS
I don’t read my Bible every day like I should. I’ve been working on setting those goals and knocking them outa the park! It’s so important for us to be in the word of God every day and He helps give us wisdom and discernment in our lives. He wants to have a relationship with us and if we practice self-feeding our spirits and just depending on God to fill the voids within us we will overcome any struggles we are going through in our lives.
Be mindful of your day. Look for things to be thankful for and be intentional about your faith keeping the question “What is God trying to teach me this week?”
Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
3. HOLY YOGA
This is a super fun thing to add to your daily self-care routine! And how awesome is it that it can be around your faith!? Keeping you intentional and mindful of your health and our God. If you want to learn more about Holy Yoga and how to get started head here. They have videos on Youtube that you can look up to get started as well.
Remember that having a self-care routine is like investing in yourself. Invite and allow yourself to improve, maintain healthy, mindful intentions and don’t overcomplicate it.
Put action into play for a better, future you.
Start with the visions you have for your future, prioritize your goals and then merge them into your daily routine. I’m a mother of 5 rambunctious boys. I am not a morning person! Waking up early doesn’t come easily to me but I keep pushing and trying every morning. Trying to fit in the things I know I need to take care of myself doesn’t always go how I would love it to flow.
Just find moments that you can make this time happen for you. Think about what you need to really recharge your spirit, what helps you gain clarity for the day? What helps keep you grounded? Make a plan and execute it, mama!
