I SO wasn’t because I ended up spending more money and would often forget what I was making for dinner.. Then some food would go bad, and that’s more money wasted.

Using a meal planner makes it easier to map out what you all will be eating for the week. It helps you stay accountable, so keep it on your fridge. That way when “mommy brain” decides to visit all you have to do is look at your menu.

- It will help you from food splurges that can take up a pretty big chunk of your grocery budget.
- It also helps you plan on making healthier meals without it costing so much because you’re buying in bulk and stocking up on in season produce.
- It keeps you from throwing your hands up and heading straight for fast food which adds up as well. It usually costs us about 45-50 bucks if we eat out.
4. You have trouble putting together affordable/healthy meals that your whole family will enjoy.
This was a major struggle for me but honestly being able to have meals made for me and sent to my inbox, along with using some smart shopping tips, and a meal planner has been a life saver.
There have been a few recipes that we didn’t quite think we would like very much but it wasn’t anything we couldn’t change. When we came across a recipe like that we just substituted any ingredients we didn’t want to use. The majority of the recipes have been great, and you even get recipes for sweet treats! It’s definitely a lot of work, this job is tough. I work at home here on my blog, and it often feels like there aren’t enough hours in my day. The worst part of those days were when dinner time comes around, everyone is hungry and I still wasn’t sure what was for dinner.

- Use a weekly meal planner to help keep yourself accountable, remember what you will be cooking each day, and don’t make any unnecessary food splurging.
- Stock up on low cost seasonal items. This will save you more money in the future. Those items cost twice as much when they are out of season. You can store some items that aren’t pantry staples in the freezer till you need them.
- Make more from scratch, processed foods are usually more expensive. You actually save more and eat healthier meals when you can make meals from scratch. Having your meals planned out will help you with this. You can plan and make your meals ahead of time.

I still kinda do.. the only reason I’ve gotten better is because I chose the easy way, the $5 Dollar Meal Plans. I plug them straight in my weekly meal planner and write down the items I’ll need for the week. Don’t judge me. lol It works!
