I’ve finally done it! I measured the ingredients I use to make homemade tortillas. I’m so excited to share this with you all because who doesn’t like homemade tortialls? Grab your big girl, mamas throwing down in the kitchen panties and let’s do this! Oh, paper and a pen would help too.
- 6 Cups of Flour
- 1 Tablespoon of Salt
- 1/4 Cup of Morrell Snow Cap Lard
- 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
- 2 Cups of HOT WATER (use less or more as needed)
Mix all the dry ingredients together then add the lard, and distribute all ingredients evenly. Last, add the hot water and knead till it’s dough.
Use extra flour for kneading dough. It will be a little sticky so sprinkle flour on top of dough.
Then roll into palm sized balls and roll out flat. Heat pan to a medium heat and when hot start cooking the tortillas. You should only need to flip them about 3 times. You can also make these tortillas in batches and freeze. Use a tightly sealed Ziplock bag and let them unthaw on the counter or in the fridge. It’s just a little harder to roll out when the dough is cold.
