Some days I suck at being a mom! Other days I’m pretty darn good at it, I love those days. But I also learn a lot from the days I don’t “Mom it like a Big Dawg” so well. Being a mother isn’t easy and you won’t always get it right but you do learn along the way. That’s the important thing to remember, because really, we are all just trying to keep our kids alive, and in good condition until they leave the nest both mentally and physically.
I am seriously holding on by a thread some days . This parenting thing is hard, and you’re always stuck wondering if what you’re doing is the right thing or not with your kids.
For a mother of 5 young rambunctious boys with major anxiety issues, this is nerve wrecking! But, I’ve been learning to deal with it. I’m sharing tips that will for sure help you “Mom it like a Big Dawg!”
Follow each tip, and apply them each week for smoother days.
Here is what I do to “Mom it like a Big Dawg.”
- Don’t set yourself up for failure. What does this mean? Give me more Monica! – It means that the night before a long day, get all your things ready for the next day.
Make sure the kids shoes, and book bags are in a designated spot so they can easily find them in the a.m. Have them Pick out their clothes too. You should do this for yourself as well.
Having a stress free morning can really help your day run so much more smoother.
We have had some pretty difficult mornings and it was because we just weren’t organized! Book bags were missing, shoes were hiding in the backyard ( yes, this has really happened multiple times ) and no one could find matching socks!
When you’re stressed, your kids feel it, and they get stressed. Is that really how you want your day to start off for your family? I call those my sucky mommy mornings. We learned to get it together, and it helps to practice good habits as a family, and makes everyone much happier!
Spend your mornings sharing some good word instead of yelling, and tossing things over like a mad woman looking for her child’s missing shoe. Or is this just me?
- Take care of business like a BOSS. In life we often come across things we don’t want to do, but if we didn’t do them where would we all be?
You will always come across things you don’t want to do in life. Don’t put things off when they are important and you know you need to handle them. Waiting until the last minute or not handling them at all , which I’m guilty of, has totally came back to kick me in butt!
I want my kids to follow through on their word, and to learn that life won’t always be a slice of chocolate dream cake pie ( although, how awesome would that be? ). But you have to keep going.
There will be things in life that they will have to do and it won’t always be fun. Example: responsibly because who likes that?! But its needed, its just life.
Children learn from their parents.
They have to see what mommy and daddy are doing so they can learn too.
My “Big Dawg Mom” advice to you is to keep your big girl mommy panties on, pray your heart out and handle your business mama!
You are capable of accomplishing anything you set your mind on, and you are worth more than you could ever image.
- Give yourself a chance to recharge. As mothers we take on a lot! More than you may be giving yourself credit for. Without you who would mold your children’s minds to become great, kind little human beings? Who would take on all the duties that come with being a Wife, Mother, and Homemaker??
You’re one amazing mama!
You do a lot, try to give yourself a little bit of time to give your rattled mind and tired body a break.
I only say this because, I get it. This job isn’t easy, my mind gets so rattled and full of things I have to remember to do that sometimes I feel like it’s going to explode! And when I get tired I’m grouchy! I don’t want to take it out on my family.
Take a break to recharge your wonderful mommy brain and body. You’re still doing GREAT!
- Know when enough is enough. Don’t stress over a messy house. Sometimes clean enough is okay. Enjoy time with your family and put those tired feet up!
