My mornings used to be a HOT MESS before I started working on bringing in good vibes to my life and making some much-needed changes. After all, life is so worth living, and your mornings will change the entire outlook on your day.
Part of what makes me the woman, wife, and mother that I am is making sure that I take care of myself too. I know it can be so hard for us to remember about what we need because we are so busy caring about what our family needs.
Slow down, mama.
You can’t take care of your family if you can’t take care of yourself. I want to share my morning routine that really lifts my spirit, gets me ready, motivated, and confident to take on my day.
Are you ready for a change? Let’s lay out a plan for your mornings right now.
As you read through my morning routine answer the questions I laid out and start to envision what your perfect mommy morning self-care routine would like for you.
Mommy Morning Self-Care Routine
1. WAKE UP TIME GOAL
Set a goal for what time you want to wake up in the morning.
Mine is 5:25 am. Give yourself time to get up before the kids so you can have some time to yourself. That way when all your kids wake up you’re not groggy and you are more ready to give your all as a parent.
I have 5 boys all under the age of 8, I totally get not being ready to deal with the demanding life of having kids, I feel like we get pulled in so many different directions as moms.
Take care of you so you can take care of them.
How will you get to your wake up time goal? What changes can you make to positively affect what time you wake up in the morning?
Take some times to think about those questions because I’m sure there are quite a few things you can eliminate from your nightly routines to make your morning wake up time goal a success.
Let me just share some of the things I had to eliminate.
My No-No’s For The Night Before
- Don’t get caught up on Facebook, Insta, or mindless funny videos. Time fly’s when you’re numbing the mind before I know it its midnight.
- Don’t watch addicting TV shows before bed because I have no self-control when it comes to MadMen. I will stay up all night!
- No evening caffeine! I love love, love coffee. Maybe a little too much, is there such a thing?
These are just a few ways that I would sabotage my mornings. Don’t do this to yourself.
My Heck Yeah Things For The Night Before
- Set my alarm on my phone and don’t touch the electronics after a certain time.
- Read my bible and favorite book before bed. I like to read till my eyes get lazy, I sleep so much better when I read!
- Drink a hot cup of tea before bed.
I also understand how hard it can be to reach this goal if you aren’t a morning person.
It was very frustrating trying to repeatedly reach my wake up time goal when I kept failing. In the end, I had to ask myself how bad I really wanted my mornings and life to change.
Take it one step at a time and don’t give up.
2. MORNING WORKOUT
I really enjoy doing yoga in the morning it gets me awake and makes me feel good on the inside of my body, and on the out. This usually takes about 30 minutes but I look at it as my 30 minutes of quiet relaxing moments to work on my mental and physical health.
I personally love the stretches and breathing exercises.
Have you thought about getting a relaxing workout in to help with your mental and physical health?
For me it was a little hard to follow at first but I knew I needed it for my sanity! Work on it a little at a time and don’t give up. If yoga’s not for you then choose something that relaxes and works well for you.
3. MORNING READING
I need to read in the mornings to help my outlook on my day and for my spiritual help. I read my daily devotional plans and my bible.
I am able to take a step back to really appreciate and love my life.
After I take this time to renew myself I feel so ready for what my day brings on. I’ve also noticed that I have more patience and can give grace at moments when I usually lose my cool!
What positive and love filled messages can you bring into your life that you can add to your morning routine?
4 .GET READY FOR THE DAY
This when I get my buns in the shower and slide on Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant!
I had the opportunity to work with Dove on this sponsored post and it’s something I am particularly happy about with this campaign because I already use and love Dove products.
This new Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant has knocked my socks off!
I mainly choose Dove because I have found that other brands suffocate my armpits, I know that sounds super weird but I really don’t like that caked on feeling in there.
If you’ve ever had that problem with other antiperspirants I really think dove is worth trying. It has a lighter weight feeling and smells great! It’s also super soft and you can feel the smoothness as you go about your day.
Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection, plus its NutriumMoisture formula and ¼ Moisturizers leave your underarms feeling soft and smooth.
Girl, I told you I have 5 kids right? I have long busy days ahead of me aka always moving, kids to feed, butts to wipe, and I basically have to make sure I keep them alive!
Believe me, I put Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant to the test and guess what? It stayed true to what they claimed!
Here are some of their awesome 5 star reviews.
“I Have Finally Found The One. The Best Best Best Deodorant There Is. Dove Body Wash Has Been My Favorite For Years, And Now That Wonderful Clean Scent Is In This Deodorant. I’m A HAPPY Girl! It Keeps Me Dry All Day And I Feel Fresh And Clean Even When Sweating. Highly Recommend Giving This A Try.”
“I’ve Tried Clinical And Basic Deodorants And Nothing Has Kept Me Dry And Feeling Fresh All Day. This Stuff Is Amazing”
With Dove I feel fresher, cleaner, and lighter. I don’t have to worry about my armpits smelling stinky or sweaty, eww, it’s a must for my busy mommy days.
Which are like every day of my life!
After I shower and get my Dove on I put on something that I feel good. Then add a little mousse to my hair and some mascara because you can never go wrong with mascara or Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant!
Making sure you take those little step to take care of yourself go a long way. I always feel more confident, motivated and just flat out good about myself when I get myself ready for the day.
It’s better than walking around all day with my crazy hair(it’s super curly and It gets frizzy!), a t-shirt with the unknown status of cleanliness, and possibly pajama pants. Yes, I’m a mom and I have done this maybe one too many times to count!
Take my advice and plan out your morning for the purpose of taking care of YOU!
